Ms. Paik, 8th Grade Math Teacher

Hello! I’m Ms. Paik, an 8th-grade math teacher at Portola Highly Gifted Magnet with a 14 years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching, I am proud to coach our school’s Mathcounts and Math Olympiad teams, where I help students deepen their problem-solving skills and discover the excitement of mathematical thinking.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). My love for working with students inspired me to pursue a multiple-subject teaching credential, and my passion for mathematics led me to earn a single-subject math credential, also from CSUN.

In my classroom, I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks, embrace challenges, and find joy in exploring, deriving, and proving mathematical ideas. My goal is to help every student build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for mathematics.
