Throughout my time in the Portola HGM, I have had several impactful experiences. Specifically, through 6th and 7th grade, I think I have learned the most. One of the most important topics I have learned from is Algebra 1 in the 7th-grade HGM curriculum. Throughout this subject in 7th grade, we learn how to use reason and application to understand how variables in mathematics work. Specifically, one of the most fun parts of this subject is the graphing. Learning how to use linear functions is easy. Exponential functions and quadratic functions are harder to do, but more fun with a curve. And finally, one of the most fun parts is using the zeros of polynomial functions. I hope that if you are going to Portola HGM, you will find Algebra 1 as good a topic as I have.
