Each year at graduation, Portola HGM honors 8th-grade students who have earned all A's on the 20 and 40-week report cards from 6th to 8th grade.

 Valedictorian - Straight A's and no U's In Work Habits and Cooperation

 Valedictorian with Distinction - Straight A's and all E's in Work Habits and Cooperation

 Grades can only be appealed within 6 weeks of the 20 and 40-week report cards. Exceptions cannot be made.
